College Philosophy

Season’s Outlook:

The 2004 San Jose City College men’s cross country team has a vision. We are a young team with only one sophomore in the group and four ‘red shirt’ athletes who will return next year to compete on the 2005 team. A part of that vision is for the team next year knowing that we will have added tremendous strength to the quality that already exists on the team this year.

The vision is not exclusively for the future. We know that while we are competing this season with only five athletes and 80% of them freshmen that we are in a risky situation. However, we believe that we have talent enough to make an impact on the Coast Conference and, indeed, in Northern California J.C. cross country. In the Crystal Springs Invitational on October 16 th, this team finished in 7 th place, only one point out of 6 th. That was meaningful in that every team, except one, from the Northern California J.C.’s were present for this competition. So it appears that the goal of this team to qualify for the State J.C. Championships on November 20 th has a good chance of being realized.
